Prosthodontic Dentistry (Crowns, Bridges, Dentures)

Prosthodontics or prosthetic dentistry is a dental specialty for replacement the missing or deficient teeth with artificial teeth. Maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients is the main consideration.

A crown is dental restoration which entirely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are looked like natural teeth and often used to improve the strength or appearance of teeth with various colors mimic natural teeth of individuals.

Dental bridges are artificial teeth, called as a pontics, which are joined between two porcelain crowns to fill in missing teeth areas .Two crowns retain it in place, dental bridge is adhered to touching sides of both crowns.

Dentures are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth, and which are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Dentures are removable and their bases can be made of plastic or metal depending on patients’ choice.
